The limit for streaming is the amount of bandwidth available for upload. In your case, since the camera is located at your home, the limit is 384Kbps. In the case of both the locations from where you are trying to connect, you have at least 384Kbps available for download. Therefore, the best speed for you is 384Kbps.

RE: Lost audio preview after upgrading
The audio preview was removed from WebCam Monitor 3.66. The audio is used for noise detection and is also recorded but cannot be previewed. This was done to cut the feedback loop caused on some PCs.
Why do you want the audio preview?

RE: Not able to record sound
By default, My Screen Recorder uses your microphone to record audio. Since you are trying to record audio from your own computer, you must record audio from speakers. Try using the Audio Tuning Wizard and change the setting to "Record from speakers".

RE: Remote Monitoring using dynamic IP
Since the two PCs are on the same network segment, you should be able to view the streaming within the network using mms://192.168.xxx.xxx:80. This seems to be working fine. The dyndns.com service is required for viewing the streaming from PCs outside your network.

RE: Viewing live stream from multiple PCs
By default, WebCam Monitor is set to allow 1 concurrent user to connect and view the streaming. To connect from multiple PCs, you must increase the maximum number of concurrent users allowed to connect.
To do so:
- On the Tools menu, click Options
- Select the Remote Monitoring tab.
- Under Streaming, click Configure
- Change the Maximum concurrent viewers setting.
- Click OK

RE: Switching camera devices while streaming
When WebCam Monitor switches devices then the format of the video feed changes. WebCam Monitor must therefore restart streaming.

RE: Connect to webcam without being noticed
The light in the web camera is part of the camera hardware. This may be possible only if the camera's driver supports such an option. In WebCam Monitor, select the video device, start the preview and see if you can find such an option under File ] Video Properties or File ] Camera Properties.

RE: Recording and Snap File name with 24hr clock
Please download and install the latest version of WebCam Monitor from:
https://www.deskshare.com/wcm.aspxIn the latest version, WebCam Monitor uses a 24 hour clock to format the file names.

RE: High CPU usage during monitoring
WebCam Monitor continously examines live video frames to detect motion. To reduce the CPU usage, you can try these things:
- Change the camera settings to use a lower dimension (320 x 240 pixels or lower)
- Lower the frame rate if your camera supports this feature
For WebCam and DV Cameras, you can change these settings from Camera Properties and Video Properties available under the File menu.
For IP Cameras, you can change these settings from the Tools ] Options ] IP Camera tab. From the IP Camera tab, select the camera for which you want to change the settings and click Edit.

RE: Saving motion detection images locally
You do not need an internet connection to setup WebCam Monitor. By default, WebCam Monitor saves both Video Recordings and Snaps locally. You can view these files from Recordings tab of WebCam Monitor. By default, the files are saved in My Documents under a folder named "WebCam Monitor Media".

RE: Screen resolution
By default, conversion to WMV uses the Microsoft Screen Codec, which is optimized for screen recordings and produces very small videos.
However, the Screen Codec will cause blurry fonts when the screen recording is done with the Windows ClearType technology enabled. This problem may also occur when you significantly resize the video during conversion.
To overcome this problem, you must make screen recordings with features like ClearType turned off. Changing Windows XP's theme to Classic will also help.
You can change both these settings from Display Properties. To open Display Properties, right click on the Desktop and select Properties.

RE: Recording powerpoint with embeded video
This happens due to hardware acceleration. To record the video, you must turn off hardware acceleration.
To do so, refer to My Screen Recorder Pro's help guide. You can also read about it online at:
https://www.deskshare.com/help/msrpro/Disablinghardwareacceleration.aspx

RE: Remote Monitoring using dynamic IP
Yes this is a convinience. If your ISP assigns IP addresses from a pool of routable IPs, which usually is the case, then you should be able to view the streaming as long as you know the active IP address.
However, if a computer is configured with a dynamic IP and is part of a network then that IP is usually not routable. Non-routable IP start with 192.x.x.x. These computers, with non-routable IPs, need either a proxy or a DMZ to connect to the internet. Setting up a DMZ is simple and available on most routers.
You can also use both mms:// and https:// to view the streaming. The stream is sent over HTTP. However, using mms:// in Internet Explorer makes it easy for the browser to refer the link to Windows Media Player. If you use Windows Media Player directly then you can specify either mms:// or https://.

RE: Split recorded AVI file into 2 parts
Since you have already recorded the file, you can use Digital Media Converter by DeskShare to split the file. You can also convert the file to almost all popular formats. For more information on Digital Media Converter, visit:
https://www.deskshare.com/audio-video-converter.aspxAnother option is that you can start using My Screen Recorder Pro for any recordings you do in the future. The Pro version can automatically segment the file to pre-defined sizes. The segmenting option is available from Tools ] Settings ] File segments.

RE: Adding sound to a recorded video
If you want to add audio narration to your screen recordings then you need to use a video editing software such as Video Edit Magic.
This will allow you to replace the entire audio track with your own audio narration. You can also edit out unwanted portions of the video. To learn more about Video Edit Magic, please visit:

RE: Screen resolution
My Screen Recorder captures screen videos in the same resolution as that of your monitor. The typical screen resolution is 1024 x 768 pixels or higher. Perimer Pro can not edit videos with such a high resolution. When you add a high resolution screen recorded video, Permier Pro resizes it to a smaller resolution that results in blurry fonts.
In My Screen Recorder Pro, you can use the Conversion Wizard to correctly resize screen recorded videos to a lower resolution without causing font from blurring. You can then use this resized video in Premier Pro.
As an alternative, you can choose to record a smaller region instead of the entire desktop. If you must capture the entire desktop then you can also try DeskShare's Video Edit Magic for editing screen-recorded videos. For details, visit:

RE: Taking snaps from multiple cameras for website
WebCam Monitor is capable of uploading snaps generated by the "Take Snap Alert" to an FTP server. By default, JPEG snaps are uploaded with different names. You can choose to upload the JPEG snaps with the same name. To specify the name of the JPEG snap:
- On the Tools menu, click Options
- Select the Remote Monitoring tab
- Under Upload, click Configure
- Under Upload Files, select the Continuously overwrite snap file name option.
- Specify the name of the JPEG snap file.
- Click OK
WebCam Monitor will now upload all JPEG snaps with the specified snap name; overwriting the JPEG snap already present.
You can also configure multiple cameras to run in a cycle using the "Schedule through Multiple Devices in a Cycle" option.

RE: How to do recordings in 16:9 aspect ratio?
My Screen Recorder Pro has a built-in converter that supports resizing the screen-recordings to a custom dimension. Using the converter, you can select the AVI file you want to convert and specify any dimension including a dimension with 16:9 aspect ratio. For example, you may want to specify 800x450 or 960x540 pixels.

RE: Setting up e-mail for web-based mail services such as Yahoo and Hotmail
The mail server "smtp.mail.yahoo.com" is for Yahoo Mail Plus users. If you have subscribed to this Yahoo mail service then you must provide authentication information along with the mail server name - "smtp.mail.yahoo.com". In WebCam Monitor, you can provide the user name and password by checking the "My Outgoing mail server requires authentication" option under "Configure Mail Server".
If you do not specify a mail server then WebCam Monitor automatically tries to determine the mail server's address from the e-mail's domain name.
If you are using any e-mail client like Outlook or Outlook Express, you can copy the SMTP settings to "Outgoing Mail Server" dialog in WebCam Monitor.
